If you're going to invest in a chiller, it really is worth it to spend the $$ on a high-end model. Lighting systems that have the lights and ballast over the tank will always produce a ton of heat and the fans only help a little.

I had a recent experience in august with a Current Prime chiller failing on the day of my wedding reception. The chiller unit failed and my lighting system raised my tank temp to 84 degrees. We didn't get home until the next day and 95% of my tank was dead. Even with A/C in the house, the lighting cooked the tank. It was a horrible experience since I had a beautiful tank that was reduced to almost nothing overnight.

I am still trying to recover the tank but I may end up moving the remaining inhabitants to another tank and starting over.

The worst part about it was the customer service from the company. Even though I had record that I had registered for the warranty online, they claimed it wasn't in their database so now I have a broken chiller and a dead tank.

So avoid a huge heartache by investing in a good chiller if you need it!

Just another plug for a good controller with adequate safety measures in place. Equipment fails. Even temp probes and controllers. But with all the money we put in our tanks, it pays to have as many layers as possible.

Free USPS shipping is still on but unfortunately this is an oversize item and needs to be shipped by motor freight. Additional charges will apply
