My Tank is Hotter Than Your Tank

Ahhhhh!!! I went out to feed the fish tonight and looked at my snazzy new digital thermometer and noticed that the temperature is 84.3 F. The room temperature is only 73 but the 1600W of MH lights have been on for 12 hours. It looks like I'll be shortening my photoperiod and investing in a chiller. Any reliable, quiet chiller recomendations?

I have heard good things about JBJ Arcticas. Do you have any fans running? My temp was nearly 85 and one decent fan will bring me down to 78, and keep going if it weren't for my controller.

I had the same problem, one of my heaters went out of whack and brought my tank up to a scorching 87.3...:fireman:

Hopefully you can find a good chiller! +k

With as much as you have already invested I would invest in a chiller.. If not just for the fact of reassurance that your tank wont completely fry if one of your heaters goes awry or something else happens.. Oh, and when you go buy your chiller, will you pick me up one too please? thanks bud!!:)

Sure thing. I'm shopping on-line right now. As soon as I find somebody running a BOGO sale, I'll hook us up :)

Ever considered switching to T5's? they would really help the light bill, especially if you dont have to hook up a huge chiller.

I appologize if I am stating the obvious, but you can put a safety statement in your controller that if the "temp > 84 halides off."

I just speaking of safety... obviously turning your lights on and off is not how to solve your heat issues.
