Definitely turn off your pumps when you add the pods. I would also turn off the lights to give the pods a chance to seed into the LR so they can reproduce. Personally, I would add 3 or 4 jars of pods since your little guy is starving already. It takes about 100 pods to seed every 10 gallons of tank volume.

In a tank that small and with a fish like the dragonette, all of the pods will be eaten before they have a chance to reproduce. These fish forage all day long so the pods wouldn't stand a chance. A nano tank is not a place for any dragonette, unless it's hooked up to a refugium.

I almost lost my SB--I transferred him into the fuge for about 2 weeks, with the pods-He did not clean out the fuge, he ate very slow actually. took him about 2 weeks to recover, but now he is back in the DT and doing well. I increased the amount of pellets daily (twice a day instead of once) and made sure some went down the back wall behind the LR--He has done great ever since. Best of luck!~!

My goby doesnt filter sand whatsoever.. he eats hardy when I put the cube in.. and stays fat.. I will be going to get some pods b/c of this thread now too. I have spotted 1 or 2 in my live rock before but want to make sure my fish are well feed.

    Good luck with your blenny!

Just like others stated, a nano is too small for this kind of fish - it will wipe out any pod population rapidly. For now, see if you can get it to eat frozen brine soaked in selcon. Usually when they are that young, it is easier to get them to eat so i would give it a shot at least to get it healthy again. After that, you should make a choice of getting rid of the fish or upgrading your tank with lots of LR to successfully keep this fish IMO

Yeah, unless you dose pods on a frequent basis, I would see if your LFS will take him back. The other option would be to add a small fuge to your system if you want to keep him and keep him alive. If you do decide to go the fuge route, dose about 3-4 jards of pods in the main tank, don't worry about the lights. Let him see the pods so he can eat them, and dose the fuge with a jar as well. The pods in the fuge will get sent into the tank with the return water.
Another option would be to add a chunk of cheato into your tank, pods can hide easier in that and reproduce. They would have more of a chance of doing that than in just LR. It's only an option though and may or may not be successful.

Some scooters won't touch them either, more so if they are young and smaller in size. Brine is usually too big to fit in their mouths unless the pieces are broken.

Hey guys....Thanks for all the great input here!

Just an update here.....My scooter is doing a bit better. Getting a little belly now. I've been feeding him brine pieces through a tube and syringe. He sure didn't try too hard with the mysis pieces but seems to love the brine.

My LFS just got in some copepods. Got two jars. Will be introducing them tonight, about an hour after lights out.
