A couple days ago I brought home some new live rock and was so excited to discover I had a button polyp! But this morning when I turned on the lights, the polyp was gone. Who would have eaten it?! I'm very curious! I have astrea snails, scarlet hermit crabs, one clown fish, one springer's damsel and a hitch hiker asterina starfish (which never seems to move much from its current place which is far from the polyp).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!!

    How big was the frag?
I recently completely lost a whole frag. I think one of my crabs knocked it from it's perch, and it disappeared into the rock work. Good thing it was only a $5 frag.

If it was on a large piece of rock that couldn't have been moved, then I have no idea. Maybe that new rock came with more than just a button.

Maybe it just hadn't opened up yet . . . you said you were looking for it in the morning right after lights on, right?

Update: I found the polyp! Unfortunately, it's laying face down in the sand. :-( I think maybe one of my crabs knocked it off?! Is it possible to save it, or is it doomed?

    Thanks!

P.S. that worm is disgusting!! I hope nothing like that is secretly living in my tank!

I would take the polyp and glue it too a piece of rubble if its freely knocking around your tank. Only use a little glue tho to allow it to grow.
