Which API test kits are you using? I havent seen any API nitrate/nitrite test kits that you adds drop until turn. The nitrate/trite kits are add drops/shake/wait for results, and its wait several minutes.

or at least thats the way they are in the master SW, Reef & individual tests I have.

problem could be instructions related.

 

nitrite got to 0.3 and nitrate has been 0.

 

Sorry to tell ya but, if that is your spike, then your tank hasn't actually started to cycle yet.

Are you using strictly API test kits?

 

it depends on what your testing, for nitrate and nitrite its add drops and wait, but for calcium and such its add drops till it turns purple or something

 

yeah thats all i have right now.

 

For trates you add 10 drops of solution 1 then 10 of solution 2 and shake for 30s then wait. You do not add drops until it turns pink like you stated.

Nitrites are read on APi test kits with these intervals 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, and 5. How ar you getting .3?

Have you had an ammo spike?

 

its says 3 so i assumed it was 0.3 it is very hard to read and i am getting a better one. its just all i had. also i got that bacter7 stuff coraline told me to get and i added the dosage.

 

yes the ammonia spiked a little before and it got all the way up to 8

 

What says 3? I decided to just go through 10 boxes of nitrite test kits to see if they changed how they are doing their scale. All of them have the scale that I posted.

Did you have an ammo spike? NB7 will not eliminate your ammo spike considering the time frame that you posted it.

Did you add anything to decay in your tank to start the cycle?

EDIT: If you ammo spike was that high and your nitrites only reached "0.3", then something is off. Your spikes should be high. Not high for one, low for another, then nothing for the last. Just doesn't work that way.

 

yes half the water and all the sand came from an established tank at the lfs, we have already gone over this entire thing.
