well my tank is finally done cycling so i got a fish :D its just a blue damsel but hes awesome. i just have a few questions. first one is how do i know hes happy in the tank. i cant tell if his beathing is labored because hes tiny and his mouth moves alot anyway. other than that i dont see any issues. he swims freely in the tank and is eating. he even eats things off the rocks. and my second ? is how often do i feed him. im using nutrifin max food. hes about an inch long.

If he is eating, swimming and appears healthy, he more than likely is. Doe's his color look good? Do you see fraying of the fins? Are there any white/gray spots on the body, or around the mouth? These things could indicate sickness. The important thing to remember now, is to quarintine any new fish before you add them to the tank. As for feeding, give only as much as he can eat in one or two minutes, for one fish it will be a VERY small amount; Once or twice a day. Keep an eye on your nitrites if you see a spike you are feeding to much. Have fun and enjoy!

Yellow Tail Damsels are pretty fish, inexpensive and reef safe. They usually get along with many other species of fish since they are not very aggressive as is the case with many other Damsel species.
Their breathing pattern is often times quick, which is normal for Damsels.

Feeding should be done 2-3 times a day with small portions given each time. Varying their diet with protein and vegetable matter is ideal for proper health as is also the case with people.
    Good luck...
