alright! i finally had a chance to get the plumbing all done, got the bits and pieces all attached (tunze osmolator, skimmer, media reactor) and filled up with freshwater to check leaks/pumps.

now i just have to drain it out, nuke the rock, put the tank in its final position, and plumb the fuge and refill tank....

lesson learned - don't blow 7 bucks a foot on braided pvc tubing - not only was it way too expensive, the stuff is so rigid it's very difficult to work with. i ended up using an elbow in one of the two overflow returns, which is slowing down return flow a bit.

i'm most happy about 1) stand didn't collapse when i filled the tank, and 2) big sump with lots of access. i used otty's idea and got multiswitch power strips from a dj supply place that work great for organizing all the stuff in the sump.

the flow from the CL is not as impressive as i had thought, but the tank is empty so it's hard to gauge it. i kinda thought it would blow so hard it would be a problem, but i've got the reeflo snapper 18 wide open. i might try to get some eductors for the outputs if things don't look turbulent enough once the rock & sand are in place. theoretically there should be about 2900 gph turning over in the tank right now (blueline 40hdx for sump and snapper for CL) so hopefully i can grow some happy coral.

    Looking great, doog.
Can't wait to see it with some life in there!
I'm also in the process of building a 75. I was just planning on the return and a couple Koralia's for flow. You've got me considering a closed loop system now. I really like the way yours came out. I've just been nervous about drilling too many holes in the tank...
    Keep up the good work!

i did it with 2 koralia 4's the first time i had this 75 together, and could never get rid of the dead spots. CL is almost too much for the 75, but without it you probably have to use vortech's or a bunch of k3 and 4's.

Nice setup so far. But to your flow concern, all that plumbing is really going to slow the pump output down. Do you have the pump on a manifold for the different outputs?

the cl pump is on an oceans motions 4-way, so output goes to one line at a time

This is cool. I like your setup. What did you use as a liner to waterproof the inside of the tank stand?

Tank is full and main pump is on!! ;D;D Now just waiting for the cloud to clear so I can start up the CL. Will add some LS and a piece of LR once I know the temp and SG are right.

    - several layers of latex paint after kilz primer. used white so i can see inside a little better.
