I just bought my first salt water tank and set it up 3 days ago with live sand and live rocks. I tested the water today and everthing is perfect (no amonia, nirates, nitrite, salt content is perfect, the PH levels are perfect, and there is no odor from the tank). The live rocks look the same as when i brought them home and three small translucent plants have appeared. I was told the rocks wouldn't cure for a month but everything seems done. Are they ready to go or has the curing cycle not began yet or did i screw something up?

PS I have a Oceanic Biocube 29 gallon Tank and made my own salt water.

If your rock came from an established system, you will have very little, if any, initial cycle (because its already cured). Can you get a pic of the "translucent plants"?? sounds like it might be aiptasia.

That is exactly what it is. Is aiptasia bad for a fish tank?

Its not something you want. I would try to get rid of it before it spreads. The problem with it is that it stings other corals and spreads like crazy. You want to stop them now before they grow and or spread. There are a bunch of methods that help get rid of them. aptiasa x or joes juice. I had more luck with boiling hot water with the only 2 I ever had in my tank.
