you would need to consider an aquarium versus a round pool
our tanks have 4 corners and those corners will not allow a whirlpool motion as the 90deg corners will break the motion

depends on your tank, that is usually a good way

That is actually exactly what I will be doing in my 125 gallon. So Id say their advice is good. Its all up to you, but Id say its a good call.

I started with a normal return pump in my proflex 2 sump, ive hlgot a rimless so i wanted a clean looking tank, so i went with 4the return lines in the tank and a larger pump, but all it does is push water faster through my filtration system o what i ended up doing was using my return lines to hit those hard to reach areas where stuff may sit and cause build up so i just got powerheads for my actual water movement for my coral ill post pics in the am on my laptop im out on the town with friends currently

I have one larger pump that runs constantly, then two smaller ones on the opposite a little lower that run on a wavemaker. So I get head-to-head for 15 minutes, then more of a whirlpool the other 15 minutes. I like to have a little chaotic water movement.

The problem with the "whirlpool" approach is most corals don't really like flow from all one direction all the time. The idea of of pointing the powerheads toward each other is that they will cause a bit more random flow.

Thanks Norg, I think these folks I found are pretty good. Their advice has been really good and their tanks look spectacular. Clear water, no Bubble, Green Hair, or Red slime algaes growing everywhere like other shops around here. It's nice to find a good seller.

(And everyone else who gave their opinions as well, thanks)

Not to mention dead spots. Water streams, flow through water, without disturbing the surrounding water surprisingly well. Turbulent random flow helps break up boundary layers and helps ensure all the molecules are bounding around nicely.
