I have no idea what that color means...I don't use api kits. Is it off the charts high? Do you possibly have an lfs that you could take a sample of water to and have them test it?

Are you sure you didn't get a freshwater kit? That color sounds like a color on the freshwater color chart they have??

EDIT: If it is a stand alone pH test kit API makes a Low range (6.0 - 7.6) and a High Range (7.4-8.8). They have two different color charts and the low range pH kit has colors like you described.

Well take a look at this, I am sure your kit is not accurate under a certain pH but looking at these color charts, maybe your pH is around 6.5 THAT IS A BIG ESTIMATE because the kit is not made to accurately read pH that low, take a sample to the LFS and have them test it for you, you may need to raise pH but have the LFS check it first.

her sg is 1.023, which is fine for fish only but a little low for corals, and her ph is a little low, but i think is fine while its cycling

She doesn't know what her pH is, the color on her test isn't clear, the pH I mentioned was a not so educated guess based off of a freshwater card.

Chadley: when did you test for pH I guess it is recommended to test pH in the afternoon after the lights have been a while because pH raises while the lights have been on. Try that (if you haven't already) and see if the pH maybe registers then? Best but would to just take a sample to the LFS though.

I APPOLOGIZE! I am totally stuck thinking about another thread, disreguard anything I have said on this thread! I thought she was unsure about pH but it is Ammonia. I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT. SORRY CHADLEY if I have caused any confusion!
