    Wow, I had no idea! The directions just said just plug it all together and don't use the first 3-5 gallons. Now on the garbage can I can't plead ignorance. I knew better.

    So AZDesertRat since I've already run about 50 gallons through this filter, had the garbage can full of water for the last day and filtered water shows 0 TDS should I still perform the step by step rinse this time around or just do it that way when I replace the membranes? I have no problem taking the time to do it now but I'm just wondering if it's necessary in light of how much water's already gone through it.

    Whats done is done but next time flush the replacement filters in order and the carbon, membrane and DI will all last longer since they did not have to absorb the junk from whatever is immediately before it.
