I still suggest getting to the route of the cause, if your carpet smells because your cat wizzed on it – clean the carpet, don’t spray Lysol !

Adding something to the tank that will devour the algae isn’t a solution, it’s a masking agent. I am a fan of cleaning crew and you should have one, but you would still need to identify the cause of Nitrates, phosphates or poor lighting spectrum.

I agree with the above, but also keep in mind that this GHA bloom is part of the normal development of a tank, just as the diatom bloom you previously had was. Now that the diatoms have eaten up all the silica, the GHA are taking over, and will likely recede somewhat once your tank matures further. At this point I would not add any fish (and would consider returning your scooter dragonette, which your tank is definitely not ready for). Get some cerith snails, nasarius snails, and whatever else you find will help you with your clean-up crew (possibly also an emerald crab). And just concentrate on keeping your water clean and low on nutrients.

Thanks, thanks, and more thanks. I was very confused why it was growing to fast because phos and nitrates have been at 0 the whole time. Though I have been feeding twice a day. Im going to scrub most of the algae off, clean the sb and cut the lights and feeding. Oh getting another 20 gal next week going to drill an overflow and make a sump. I wasn't sure what to do thanks alot!

Yes, feeding twice a day is way too much. My fish are lucky to be fed twice a week at this point.
