Any ideas as to why my ammonia didn't go up very high and dropped? Is this normal?

I'll watch it and if my levels all go to zero in the next week or so, I'll feed my tank some fish food everyday for a few days and see if I get any spikes. Then after a few days of watching closely if all is well ill add a pair of clowns.

I've never heard of putting fish food in after the cycle. I see where you are going with that, but I'm not sure it is necessary.

What size tank is this again? If the cycle is over you should at least see diatoms soon after. instead of immediate fish just toss your CUC in there and see what they do.

It's a 29 biocube. (probably closer to 20g because of rock) smitty, once all of my levels are at zero you think I should just go ahead and toss a couple clowns in there? How soon after?

I would give it at least a few days of watching the params to make sure you are getting "0" readings before adding fish. Like mentioned above, you could add the CuC prior to adding fish.

I think that would be safe to do. Clowns are hardy fish as well, so they should make great first additions.
