I need to buy a laptop for college coming up soon. Got any recommendations? Which brand do you like best out of those three: dell, toshiba, or hp? I looked at macbooks, and once I saw the price on them I got out of that store faster than ASAP :D

Sounds like a monster machine. I love the xps models. I have an inspiron also. It okay but a bit outdated now.

Personally dude, I'd go with an hp like the one I just got because it's touch smart so you can take notes directly on you computer... I think that's way cool BTW. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's small. 12" screen:-/
Toshiba is really good for performance and gaming. But they're design of notebooks are not very pleasing to the eye lol.
Dell is 100% the best when it comes to their service, support and warranty.
My all time favorite is Alien Ware but take a look at their prices and your jaw will hit the floor lol.::)

With Alien Ware your paying for the name, they are way overpriced. There are other gaming systems you can get pre built for way cheaper. I used ibuypower.com but there are others.

I would have to take an opposite side as siddique on the Dells. I had one, and would never wish it upon anyone else. IMO very bad customer support and warranty. I had mine for 7 months. Had to go back to their service 4 times, each time took at least 3 weeks, and during those times, no one could ever tell me what was wrong, what was being repaired, or how long it would take. Lost all of my data every time as well.
I have had my Toshiba for a year, and the only thing that has happened with it was the power cord ;)

I'm really digging the HP. Anyone have a good range I'd want to look for in processing power? I don't really know what the huge difference is between 2.0 ghz and 2.2 ghz.

I'm also looking for 250 GB or more hard drive, and memory doesn't matter too much because whatever it is I'll probably upgrade it anyways.

I'm liking the Toshibas and HP's. We have an XPS desktop computer from back in the day when my brothers were gaming the night away, but I'm not sure if I'm going to install any games on my college laptop. Maybe Halo so we can get a LAN going and play in class like we did in Web Design in highschool :D

I might start my own laptop thread here so I don't jack Siddique's thread too much :D
