I don't know, man. My guess would be 18-20 of the crees would equal the taotronics.

It's really 55 3w LED's running 2 watts, so I dunno if a direct conversion would make sense.

The benefit of the DIY is you get to pick your colors and optics.

Has anyone here tried these and compared them to some of the "name-brand" ones like the AI SOL? I'm in the market for LED's since my PC seem extremely outdated. I have a 75g tank 48 inches long and I believe I need two fixtures for it.

I was gonna replace the lights I have now for LED's next year when I believe the AI SOL's were going to go down, but if these are just as good, or at least comparable then I was going to sell the PC now and order 2 of these for ~$300...any ideas? How does the LED compare to the previous lights you owned?

    HI there,

    I'm the OP.
I went from PC's to these. My PC's did put out a lot of light, but not quite this much. the LED's, although 120 degree, still are much more concentrated. I'm getting awesome growth, even on my sps.

I haven't read a direct comparison of the two lights you mentioned.

Two would be more than enough for your 75g. It's good on my 6ft 125.
I'd get the dimmable ones for more color control, etc.

thats the person I got mine from.. I offered 300.00 and it wasnt taken.. Rather than waste time and effort I went ahead and did the buy it now after that.. I received mine 1 week after purchased although it stated 3-4 weeks for shipping.. Still like mine and have adjusted my eyes to seeing them. Corals love them with exception of a cynarina coral that I cant seem to make happy.....

Does anyone know if you can hook up a controller to these so that it can do sunrise/sunset and such?

You guys dont think I can get away with one fixture and put it right in the middle huh=/? I mean the corals and rocks for me are pretty much 6inches from the wall on each side so the rocks are, give or take a couple inches, roughly 36inches wide.
