Just doing a routine chem test, and noticed my cal hasnt gone down really at all for past few weeks now? Im not dosing it at all for cal either, my general readings avg around 460 always. Ive been dosing Alk to try and raise it, (dont have exact reading, need to get a kit with a value) Are my corals just not absorbing the cal? All my coral are growing and look awesome, cept for one retracted frog spawn. I heard Cal should always generally be dropping, or is this normal?

You don't have really anything that is going to use it fast. SPS, clams and coralline will.

So yes it's normal for your levels to stay pretty much the same.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Maybe test the calcium level of a newly made up batch of SW before a water change just to see where you stand. I would not expect a lot of uptake from the corals you have listed if you are doing routine water changes.

So is it bad if your Calcium isn't getting used up? Mine hovers right around 500. I am starting to think that I need to look into different salt. I do weekly or close to it water changes and have lots of hard coral in my system, but they are all new and small... maybe thats why??

Yes, the larger they grow, the more calcium they will use.
