    Well, this morning I came upstairs to find my cat playing with a dried up wrasse next to my fish tank. The cat didn't kill it because he sleeps in my room with me and can't leave until I get up to let him out of the room. I watched the tank until i went to bed last night - all present and accounted for. I did search a bit, but was looking for more personal experiences. This is the second wrasse that I have had jump - saved the first one thank God. This one was not so lucky. I know wrasses are known jumpers, but I have a top to my tank and the area that isn't covered by the top (back 3") is covered by mesh. What I was wondering, is jumping related to stressors? I tested my water this morning:

    Ammonia = 0
    Nitrite = 0
    Temp = 78.4
    Phosphate= undetectable
    Ca = 390
    Mg = 1390
    dKH = 9

    I have been running carbon for the last week as part of my schedule.

    One thing I have noticed is that my maroon clown appears to have some battle wounds on his dorsal fin. This could obviously be related, but the wrasse got along fine with the clown. Any thoughts?

    Hi, one thing you may or may not know, now that you have copper in there, you will not be able to house Corals. If as you say, all openings are covered (but not secure) the Wrasse seems to be fleeing a conflict. Maroon clowns are very aggressive and with age can turn real mean.

    Yeah I saw coppera and just thought "...ummmmmm...whatcha doin there froccy..." haha. My other thoughts were: "I hope my wrasse doesn't do that." You asked for thoughts, so there they are. :D

    Maybe the clown and the wrasse had a little scuffle, and the wrasse lost? I dunno...sorry about the jumper though :(

    Yeah, guess i'll just have to get tighter mesh. Was using gutter guard, but because it's only 3" maybe i'll switch to tighter plastic mesh even though it blocks out light. Fish have fights all the time and if a fish jumps out every time they fight this would be a grossly expensive hobby (if it wasn't already). Future course of action - move all fish to their own tanks for a time out.

    Well, he may have just gotton spooked. That is what I am thinking. Your params look good. Also, your clown may have a little fin rot. It can look like battle wounds, and you may want to give him a two or three day treatment with Melafix (or something of that ilk).

    I'll keep an eye on the fin. I'm setting up a 29g QT tank for the 160g atm so maybe i'll throw him in there and he'll be the first to get transferred. THanks.
