I will be there this April during a family reunion. My aunt is a member, and we plan on doing some behind-the-scenes tours. I plan on taking my HD camcorder and DSLR, I'm gonna look like a total nerd.

I've actually been there before, 4 years ago visiting my aunt/uncle during basic training, and was completely awed by the 8.3 million gallon aquarium. I didn't take too much time at the tropical/reef exibit because I wasnt into this hobby yet at the time.

Anyway, I'll post video and pics of the whole thing in this thread. CANT WAIT! ;D

I think I have a picture somewhere. Basically, a big acrylic wall something like 120 feet long by 60 feet tall. There's a block of acrylic on display to show how thick the wall is, it was like 3 feet thick. My favorite was watching the one scuba diver scrubbing the inside of the wall... with 4 other scuba divers around him w/ spear guns to fend off the sharks. LOL! That's the main viewing area, but there's a tunnel that goes underneath, and windows all around. If I had to guess dimensions, it's probably 80-90 feet deep, 250 feet by 500 feet in area.

I wanna know what that protein skimmer looks like... ;D

Well, I was going to post some teaser pics, but photoshop.com is under maintenance.

I was looking through some pics from 2007 of the main tank and found the scuba divers I was talking about, as well as some pics of the reef they have. I CANT WAIT to see the reef again, now that I'm hooked on this hobby. Looking through the pics though... lots of tangs, clowns, shoals of everything... and sharks! The corals are hard to make out, but I'll try to do a better job this time around.

Aquarium trip set for next monday.

I'll get the teaser pics up when photoshop lets me. ;D

Sounds like a fun time. My wife and I have talked about going there, we just need to stop talking about it and do it.

Now is defintely not the time for office politics...

And the reef tank, dont know the gallonage, but it's huge, and wraps over your head, so the waves crash on the acrylic over you:
