I gotta guy helpin me out with this project. Hes more the mastermind behind the engineering and construction of this. I just created the look and specs on it.

Fortunately I have an acrylic sump. I cant see the acrylic breaking. Or it ever leaking.

But I may just leave it all in. Me and this guy have spent some time goin back and forth. He finally completed the final rendering on this.

But then again you two make very valid points. And I should save my self a deep depression of having to tear down my tank just to take a damn sump out. ;)

Thanks for the tips. Will see what we can incorporate to make sump go in and out with tank on top. I think the no center brace between the two doors would be beneficial. A better working territory when hands in the stand area and of course easy removal of sump if it is ever necessary.

I would have assumed thats was a tank stand. Not a dry sink. I dont even know what a DRY sink is.

dry sink was used in the olden days, usually a pitcher and basin was used as the sink. sometimes they were tin lined with a drain hole in them. the days of no running water. i did this as a replica antique, square nailed , beaten , stained and 4 coats of varathane.

In the years before I was turned, or made--we owned a beautiful dry sink. It was upstairs in the Western recesses of our castle. Of course, this was a hundred years before the Nords invaded us, and burned our castle to the ground.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was just watching my DVR'd TrueBlood. :) I had never heard of a dry sink either. I guess it makes sense in the same way a "wet bar" does.

and you probably owned a norwegian blue also. :)

a true antique dry sink in good condition is worth upwards of 5000. i made mine, including hardware for about 250.

ok.. so im gonna have a canopy made also... I need help with cooling fans. I have 2 250w de halides and 2 96w compacts that will be retrofitted inside.

My concern is cooling, I have winter coming around so im gonna skate by without a chiller until uncle sam refunds me some money,

I am thinking of having 3 fans. 2 on each side blowing in and one in the top right between the halide blowing out. not sure what type of cooling fans im gonna use. Prolly pick up some computer cooling fans, But I need help powering these suckers. Anybody have any experience with canopy retrofitting in regards ti multiple cooling fans with one power source to them. Meaning not 3 different plugs taking up room on my poower strip.
