Well.... I was pretty bored and have been meaning to do this anyway...

So I cannibalized the moonlights from old coralife fixture and set them up in my canopy....

Well it turned out well until I burnt out a transformer. replaced it worked for about an hour. Burnt that one out and gave up. Had hard time finding what I thought was the "right" transformer.

    Lesson learned today.

First time all my hard work was for nothing but a learning experience.

No way to really figure it out.. Im not that electrically experienced to pull out a meter and guess the right amps and voltage needed for these odd led's. Inside the coralife fixture they have a transformer cutting down the 120v AC to 4.5v AC 800ma to some weird looking circuit board. from there to the leds is the unkown.

Well heres some pics taken of all the work that I ended up removing.

Sucks that they wouldn't stay lit.
Hope you figure it out. Thanks to your canopy build I'm gonna make a completely enclosed one for my new tank.

Its closed for the most part on the back wall. just have 5 - 2" holes drilled into it for cables for lighting.

Can you tell me a little about your powerhead setup? As in how long you alternate the currents, and what controller you are using.

    Well....

Im over frustration with keeping sps in my tank.

My tank hasnt rebounded since my troubles late last year.

So Im draining it this weekend.

Keeping my prized fish, clam, and certain corals at a lfs in safe keeping.

Gonna drain the water out. let all the live rock dry in place. do some re aquascaping. gonna take some concrete and make something permanent similar to what I have now.

Then gonna start fresh. Keeping everything in mind on what I know now. Sorta like "if I was to do it all over again... I would do it this way"

Not gonna focus as much on sps this time. gonna go with mainly lps with sps.

Please no sympathy cause Im looking forward on doing this :)

Sorry to hear Tat.... honestly one thing I think is important is time, stability, and maturity. The bacteria colonize quick, but all the other microfauna take time. I don't think starting from scratch is going to cure your problems. I think sticking it out will be better in the long run.

Just an opinion. I'm no expert. My .02. Good luck with the rebuild. It is always fun.
