Ive never experienced this problem before...

My fans in the canopy are actually chilling my tank substantially.

Room temp is about 65 degrees right now... and these fans are blowing that 65 degree air across the surface chilling the tank.

Its cooling the tank below 77.0 with halides on 8)

I have to have my fans shut off at 77.0. Heater is now set to kick on at 76.5 and off at 77.0

Pretty strange that I have to have my fans programmed to shut off at 77.0.

So fans are off for about 5-10minutes to let the halides heat the water up past 77.0 then fans kick on and chill the water since there is minimal heat coming off these reflectors.

nice to hear the fans are working so well for you. My 1 fan in my canopy that is wired to my actinics keeps my tank a perfect 78. My heater only comes on at night and my emergency fans in the sump have yet to come on. Its nice.

Fantastic. So your overall temp has dropped with this canopy in place then. You know you did well when stuff like that happens! Good job, man!! :)

Thanks... It kinda happened on its own....

I was concerned with temps with a canopy but... If I step back and think about it.. it makes cents..

    More efficient reflectors
Halides furthe away from water surface
More air flow in an enclosed space increasing airflow arond water surface
Well it helps to have an apartment that 65 degrees due to cool weather...

So this makes me more comfortable entering the warmer months with this setup when it comes to battling high tank temps.

Ill be aight with apartment 70-74 degrees. I feel comfortable saying this after seeing whats going on with my tank temps.
