Steve, many people just drop sps in their tanks. No acclimation needed.

I do almost the same, but I do acclimate for temp by floating , then I plop them in. I have never lost any sps from this method.

The new corals look nice, as well as that CB Butterfly. I am thinking of getting one of those B flies to eliminate the few aiptasia I have, plus those have always been a favorite fish of mine. i suppose I would need to fish my maroon clown out and put her in the sump so I have no issues.

As far as a Ca Reactor is concerned, there should be no need to take one off line due to not enough demand. That is unless you are not running a Ph controller, or it is not dialed in yet.

Yea it is a shame on the sps disaster... but monti grow quick so I should have what I had back in no time.

I am being cautious with my new sps.... Typically like horkn stated I temp acclimated and dropped em right away in their home but dont want the to bleach since they came from under t5s. I want them higher in my tank, upper 1/3 portion which is much more light than where they came from.

But they should be in there home by this weekend

ca reactor..... that will be in the future. maybe earlier next year... gonna stick with two part dosing til I learn a bit more on reactors.

Yea phosphate reactor pretty simple.... Two little fishies anf a maxijet 400. Get good media... dont go cheap.. Im using ecophos (german made).

Ahh yes the avatar... gotta love it.. I like the expression.

These new pieces have some really nice coloring. they were each $15. Killer deal especially from a lfs.

My copperband is my favorite fish now.... Mainly cause he has done some justice by eating all my aiptasia. He's a real winner. I got lucky cause I was in the middle of a tank move when I added him in. Was concerned with my purple tang.... worked out well as sonn as I setup the tank I threw him in while the purple tang was adjusting to new rockwork. I probably would have added him in before. I had tried that long ago and had a terrible ich outbreak with all my fish since the copperband got bullied and broke out in ich and spread to other fish. That was some time ago and wasnt gonna make the same mistake twice.

Sorry to hear bout the difficulty man.

I love your new stand. The style of your aquascape and coral placement/selection is awesome. I look at your tank for inspiration sometimes...

    Keep up the great work.

    My beloved copperband died today.

Upsetting cause I really tried my best to keep it with a varied meaty diet.

He will always be remembered in my tanks heart for all the aiptasia he ate

    RIP'ed in the toilet

WTF! Any reason? Sorry to hear. Corals are the challenge, but I have a tank for fish. I do hate when I loose one I really like. I wish I could have more.

I bought 2 Mandarins and neither lasted a week. They were even at the LFS for 2 weeks so they were good. I have a ton of pods. No idea why, but I guess I'm not meant to have a Mandarin.

Copperbands are known to be a hard fish to keep in aquariums from what ive been told.

I have a mandarin thts been going for 6months strong. fat little guy.
I know hes got plenty of pods cause at night its like a sand storm of pods.

all other fish are healthy. copperband was acting strange last night.
Got home an hour ago to see him stuck to powerhead. He was eating last night. Dont know what could have happened. Bummer.

Looks like its time to add another fish ;D.

But I gotta be careful cause of my purple tang. I got lucky with this copperband adding him cause it was during my tank move. New aquascape for tang not to fight with copperband.

I dont know.... Ive always wanted another tang..... but Im asking for trouble with that. I like a sole dominant purple tang. So tang is outta picture.

I would really like a leopard wrasse. Maybe a rabbit fish.

But ultimately I will be adding a borbonius anthias when they are in season (not til spring/summer). If you dont know about em google em. They are some BAD ASS species.

Borbonius's have big personalities. I think they are the coolest lookin guys there are besides a clown trigger. I wish I could house a clown trigger in my tank.

I dont have any unwanted fish.... well on second thought I have this black clown that nips at my hand everytime I put my hand in the tank .
But hes a cool little guy. Ill keep it.
