I don't know what was causing house fires how many years ago? It's been on for 2 hours, the ballast ain't hot at all, the glass is hot, but the glass gets hot even with T5's, it has the new smell of the heat, but nothing that would make me think it so hot its going to burst in to flames. I plan to hook that up to a timer if I can and have the MH on for 5 hours a day, like from 10 to 3, there is slots for 4 T5's, i'll keep the T5's on only for the remainder of the lighting period.

I still got 2 nice caves to the left and right Matt, I did break that large rock, moved things around a bit and look how much it it opened up the center of the tank, room for at least 4 more medium size rocks to put more Coral on

I am going to be changing the 15k MH light and replacing them with 14k and a new tank may be in the making, I been eyeing a 65g at petsmart, same diminsions as my 40b except a lot deeper.

Have you considered moving a rock to hide/obstruct the view of the Rio pump. Maybe replace the rock below it with a larger one. Maybe that purple on on the left. Otherwise I like it.

Thanks! Yea I don't like that big ol pump either and that micro-bubble diffuser is a pain also, right now I am communicating with a person that is selling a 10g sump, its small, but it will allow taking all the equipment out of the tank.

Looking good reefinjeff. The new halide looks good, raise that baby up!! I had the same deal on my 40, with the intense beam mainly in the middle. I had to hang my fixture up a few inches. I have a 250w halide 4 bulb T5 Odyssea setup over my 40 breeder, and its a beast. I've had it for going on 6 months or so, and no problems whatsoever. Doesn't get hot and hasn't caused a fire.. If yall were talking about odyssea lights up there or not lol couldn't tell.

Yes! their seems to be a lot of different opinions ragarding this fixture, I haven't had any problems so far, the ballast doesn't get warm, of course the glass gets hot, but not hot enough for a fire. I toned down my light some by changing the 15k bulb to a 14k very nice difference.
