Without typing each question into 3 diff forums....

1.) How often do ya'll rinse out your filter sock? (in sump)

2.) I wonder why I came home yest and found my hermits snacking on a dead green chromis? I mean the question is, I wonder why the chromis died? Never acted ill etc...was stunned to see that's what the crabs were eating. The other 5 are peachy as I thought that one was...

3.) Anyone use their 'waste water' from ro/di to water plants or what else do you use it for?

    cheers! ;D

What are the water parameters of your tank? That would be the first thing with the chromis. Any sores? Bullies?

You've a 180g reef AND a 500g tank also?!! dang! the water question was really geared toward the fact I hate it just going down the drain. Seems like you could use it to water the plants in your house or outside

I'm sure you could. I don't have an RO/DI system. I use tap water as well. i condition it and such and *knock on wood* have not had many ill effects. I test my tap water regularly. I wouldn't know what to do with "waste water." What is waste water?

Sometimes chromis just die, they can be very fragile depending on how they were collected or where they are from. The waste water can be used to water your plants, but thats about all I would do with it. With filter socks it really depends on how much there filtering out. if you have a heavy load and feed a lot daily cleanings might be in order, but if you stock and feed light you might get a week out of them.
