I awoke this morning just hating how my rock looked and wanted to free up some wasted space. I plan on purchasing a Vortech MP40W ES for my AGA 75RR tank. The overflow is on the left side about 6" from the corner. I want to build a pyramid type aquascape on the right side. I feel that if I put the mp40 on the right side it may blow some of my corals to smithereens. However, I think that I wouldn't get as good waste transport as I would with the mp40 on the right side if I placed it on the side where the overflow is.

Does placement of the vortech really matter when it comes to where the overflow is?

    IMO it makes no difference
where ever it is placed it will add to the circulation in the tank, keep things in motion and sooner or later anything near the surface is going to reach the overflow

keeping it on the opposite side to where your main corals will be located is a good idea IMO

Yea, I mainly have very fleshy LPS corals. Last thing I want to do is blow the flesh right off the skeleton. I was thinking mp40 on the left and two of my K1s on the right.
