TO move I would say take out enough water to keep the sand covered just enough to keep it muddy and together and not enough to splash it around. I would suggest to move them slide them on to a good sturdy board. This will make it easy to maneuver. As for your shrimp I have had a tank with at least 9 pistols and they never fought during transport. Use walmart totes if you can and buckets for the water. I usually get the cheap 32 gallon trash cans and use those. They come in handy for moving and water changes. Also expect to be busy with this for up to 12 hours or even more for take down and build up. Let me know how it all went. I just moved 3 125 gallons a 75, 29gal nano and an 8 gallon. 3 people 16 hours 5 trips.

Could you bait them? make a trap and catch them so you can avoid the damage?

Well the move is over. I ended up consolidating my 29G biocube livestock into the 45G tank.

Drying the excess rock for future use. Aside of a firefish and three sexy shrimp (which could be in there I guess, can't find them alive or dead) everything else survived.

The biggest issue was that due to all the movement of tanks I now have two tiger pistols in the same tank. We'll call them Orange and Brown. Orange is from the 29G BC and is quite the explorer, very social and constantly on the move.

Brown is like the grumpy old man who doesn't want the neighbor kids on his lawn.

Orange keeps going in circles and sticking its head into Brown's cave and then leaving. Stopping long enough to stand on the decorator crab and then try to take it with him (though the decorator crab is the biggest thing in the tank).

Brown has a yellow watchman goby who seems confused.

The two pistols have been within an inch of each other, no snapping.

It looks like Orange has set up primary residence on the opposite end of the tank from Brown.

They are about the same size, one if left clawed and the other is right.

It would be fantastic if they were and could coexist in the tank. Biggest problem with the move is my freshwater tank, looks like I'm going to end up taking it down.

Local fish store is watching the fish I just don't know if I have the place to put that tank in the new place.

few fish that I've had for 7-8 years. two large clown loaches and a stunning green terror.

It is, the green terror specifically has a sort of relationship with my son. The fish will ignore everybody but gets very excited and splashes my son when he gets close to the tank. The fish is older than my son and ever since my son could stand to look in the tank that fish has paid special attention to him.

    firefish came out of hiding!

I can't believe that I lost all three sexy shrimp. No little corpses, I suspect they all hid in a rock and that's the one that I set on the back porch to dry out because I couldn't fit it in.
