Ok, im kicking this idea around. I have a 10' wall my 4' wide 55g reef tank is located directed in the middle. I have another 55g 4' freshwater tank in a bedroom with my 14" red devil fish. I was wondering if I drained 90% of the water out of my 55g reef and just left the rockwall and all the corals there. corals would be out of water probly for 60 minutes. could I just shove/push my tank over without picking it up to relocated in to the right 18-24"? by myself? I of course would remove my lights/canopys/sump/etc from tank and stand to lighten the load. so basically I would have the weight of the stand/glass tank/50lb sand/60lb LR/corals/fish. If its possible Im only real concern is the rockwall collapsing on me and possible cracking front glass.

    what do you guys think.

I would only try it with the help of a buddy. Would be a much faster move too.

go to HomeDepot and get a bunch of "furnature sliders"
you'll need to remove enough water to allow you to get the sliders under the stand legs, but then it will slide right over the carpet pretty easily.
I designed my stand to allow me to do this type of thing, if you have a standard store bought stand you probably want to rethink the whole thing.

yea its a petco brand store bought stand. sucks, just need to slide it over. I think it may require a total breakdown of the tank. if I could get some of the top rocks out, and get the overall weight to about 200lbs do you think the stand would hold up slightly picking it up/sliding it over on the carpet?

Then you should probably pull some of it out. Like, most of it.

I would also make sure the LPS are deflated before you do this, or else they may get damaged.

The sliders are a really good idea, I've used them to move stuff a whole lot. Get the large (6 inch across) ones, and put them under the corners; much less work that way.

you may aswell take the loose rocks and the rocks without coral out of the tank seeing as they are going to be out of water anyways, should lighten the load, and just get a few buddies round and actually pick the whole thing up.

Don't do this. Get the sliders at Home Depot or Lowes. It's much less stress on the tank's joints that way, as the sloshing and uneven pressure will be reduced to a minimum. It's also by far less work for you.
