Alright So I picked up a piece of orange ricordea from LFS late last week. He is in the bottom of my 20 gallon hex. I have him near the middle/front of tank on the crushed coral bottom. He was new to the store when I looked at him and wanted it as I been looking for orange and it was the only one. I know I probably should have waited on it, but I figured it would be fine as it was rich in color. So its a very small one and is just a single head. He hasn't opened up fully yet and laid himself down. I tried to get him to attach to a very small piece of rock on the bottom and he wasn't having it and moved to the crushed coral. He is partially attached. Should I leave him be? Or move him into the shade? I don't want to see him start loosing color or anything, so I didn't know if he should be moved or not. This is the first coral I have seen in my tank that didn't expand out within a few hours.

I have a green yuma ricordea that absolutly loves it and is on the left side bottom. Its a 20 Gallon Tall Hex tank with a 150w M.H. phoniex 14k bulb. I have a bunch of corals through out the tank. It has 2 true perc clowns 10 different small sized crabs & 2 Turbos, 2 Nas snails.

    Thanks
    Conrad

I have all three of my rics under 150w 14k MH bulbs, they get no shade, are 16-19 inches from the actual light, and they are doing fantastic. They only get picky if I change the flow and it's too much for them. Having said that, I think yours will be fine where it's at. Got any pics?

i have so much ricordea in my tank its placed everywhere!!! i have some about 8" from my 150w mh. i have some in the middle of the tank in direct water flow. and i have some at the bottom of the tank in a corner with very little flow. i have to say the ones that are doing the best are in the middle of the tank. (125 g tall) about 18 inches from the two 150w mh and two 96w actinics and mild water flow. it has bloomed out to be about 12 inches in dia.

I moved the kenya trees I had on the bottom to the left side and moved the acan ultra red frag I just got yesterday a little farther away from the stuff to to make sure the ricordea's stay clear away from it as I know they can become issues when in close quarters. But you see my tank now;)
