Do I need to leave them on at night? when we are all sleeping? Or can i just turn them off? What do the fishes and other mates like better?
And what is the point of moonlight

    IMO

Anything that tries to replicate nature is a good thing (well the good parts of nature, no cyclones or tornados for my reef tank thank you LOL)
so if you have moonlights and the tank lights are not going to disturb you
    then leave them on overnight

I leave mine on 24/7. there LED packs so they use hardly any power and last a loooong time. From what I have heard they can trigger coral spawning which is almost never a bad thing.

if you are going to use them, I would try to cycle them like nature does. Corals do need some time of total darkness too. I don't think moonlights are a bad thing but keep this in mind.

I keep mine on all day and half the night so there is a period of total darkness and a nice shimmer during the day.

Mine go off later at night, I'm not sure I buy the coral spawning bit, AFAIK that's just speculation/anecdotally support.

I use them just for aesthetics, shimmer during the day, and so there's a bit of light after the lights go off so I can see in there easier before I go to bed.

I don't believe moolights have any effect on the tank but they do look nice! I used LEDs for years but just bought a ReefKeeper Lite with the MLC moonlight module and two extra light pods. Its amazing having the moonlights on a true lunar cycle just like the moon so they rise and set, get brighter and dimmer, etc. just like the real thing.

Corals Mania has the best price on Reefkeeper Lites I have found but Bulk Reef is good too.
