I have had this purple monti for about 2 years and I have a bicolor blenny, oscellaris clown, fairy wrasse for about 1.5 years. Today I noticed some of the edges are getting thicker and kinda mushy. If I touch the edge it will break apart. Also I have a small size brown algae on the monti. The pic should show the brown spot and you can see the edges of some of the swirls. I have not added anything new in a year. Could this be from the blenny or what else could cause this. Lighting is sunpod 2 150 MH bulbs for 8 hours a day. temp is 78. 1.025, PH 7.9 - 8.2, alk is 8-10 calcium is 400-440. 3 koralia 1's and 1 koralia nano, I run pura complete in a HOB Aqua clear and I have a Aqua C Remora skimmer.

After looking at the pics now posted, I really do think it's a flow problem in those tight areas of the monti. Any way to direct a bit more flow on it?

I can direct more flow if thats the problem. It was happy for over a year with the same flow. I cant understand? I did notice the Blenny perching on it today.

Mine did the same thing. It was fine for a few months and then all of a sudden, mushy edges. I had a lapse in cleaning my K's and and wouldn't have guessed they were the problem. I just decided to drop them in vinegar one day. A week after they were back in with full flow, the monti started to develop an edge again.

Maybe after everything has been growing for so long the growth of everything has shifted the way the water flows in the tank?

Bingo. Just like how many birds nest corals have a problem with algae when they grow too big. Hard to direct flow through all the nooks and crannies.

Any way my Bi-color blenny would nip at it? Some parts of the monti look like they were nipped at

Possible I suppose, but more likely he just knocked it off while swimming by. In that thread I posted earlier about the same problem, that pic was taken right after my hand barely brushed it. The mush just comes off to easy.
