Well, it seems that missing gobies are becoming quite common. I have decided to go ahead and declare my MIA diamond goby as KIA. I searched the lower portion of the house for a carcass and tried my best to feel around (didn't really care about bristle worms) for his body. I haven't seem him for over a week, so he is gone :-[. I have been checking my water levels about every three days and everything seems to be staying normal. So, I will find him if we ever move, one of my cats got an extra meal, or my CUC got to him.

I really liked that fish and can't think that he starved to death. He was eating from the squirt feeder every day. The only thing I could think of is that he wasn't getting enough. Too late to second guess myself now. I might think about getting one, but will definitely buy it from the LFS and make sure it is eating. The only reason I didn't buy him from them is that they don't offer any guarantee on their fish.

To cure my depression, I went to the LFS and came back with something that I wasn't going to do. I decided to try some easy starter corals. I got some nice zoas, bulleye mushroom, yellow polyps, and something they called a hairy mushroom. I think that I really have a high flow tank. Even pointing the powerheads away from everything still creates quite a breeze. The zoas seem to be in the most dead spot of the tank. I like the idea of having corals, but don't know if my aquascaping leads itself to quality placement.

Anyway, thanks again to this great forum and for all of the help you guys have given. I am sure I will have a new set of questions soon :)

    Regards,
    Ivy

hey Ivy, sorry about your loss , its awful when we lose things, sometimes there is no logical explanation and you have to accept this as part of the hobby IMO
as long as we try our best to understand what we are keeping and do our very best to maintain the conditions they require , then thats as much as any of us can do and unexplained fish deaths become the exception and not the rule

your flow does not sound OTT to me
    mag 7 plus 2 x K2s and a K nano

IME - Zoanthids can take a bit of flow, as can yellow polyps, shrooms like it a bit calmer

get a full tank shot up for us please - maybe Power head placement might generate some thoughts

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies and I apologize for the late reply. I didn't see that anyone responded until this morning. Anyway, I took some quick pics of the tank as it stands this morning. The zoas, yellow polyps, and lavender mushroom have really opened up since I bought them. The bullseye will open up greatly and then shrink. It almost looks like a couple of them are going to move off of that piece of rock, but never do. The one that looks flushed has looked that way since I got it. I still don't know if I have them to close to the lights. the flow isn't so bad where they are now. Thanks again and please let me know is you see anything that needs moved.

    Regards,
    Ivy

    Hey Ivy

cant see anything wrong in those photos to be honest, flow wise, your PH placement looks good to me, and the corals seem to be open nicely and dont seem to be pushed over
