I just got back from a 2 week vacation. A few days before I got back my tank sitter texted me to say she couldn't find the fish. It was my goby that she couldn't find. I told her not to worry and that it was probably hiding. But when I got back a few minutes ago I realized just how much had happened. First I noticed just how much sand had moved apperantly I had not put my power head back in the right place after I cleaned it before I left. All of the sand in the front of the tank had been pushed away from the frint of the tank into big piles. There were also many new exposed crevices. But I am wondering if the goby and could have been buried? Also it seems as though it has been a couple days since the fish was last seen and the skimmer has not over producing? Does this mean the fish are not dead? What are the sgins of a dead fish if you can't find the body?

do you have an overflow.. My goby took 3 trips down my overflow into the sump before he made his final jump.. he just seemed to love my overflow "ride"..

Well, if it hasn't reared it's head by now, it's probably gone. I have had three fish disappear in my tank. One was sizable. Your CUC will take care of it. You may get a mini-cycle out of it, but nothing to really worry about. I wouldn't go digging.....just let your ecosystem take care of it.

I pushed some sand around because it had been pushed away from the front of the tank. I didn't find anything. I have to do a water change and clean the sump and my fingers smelled funny when I pulled them out of the tank. I will see if anything turns up if not I am out 14 dollars.
