it would work as a good pico many people use them as picos on nanoreef the filter would need to be upgraded to something like an aquclear 50 or 70 with a fuge mod

I am playing around with getting a 2.5g DIY pico set up around one of the AGA tanks but did a good bit of digging into the kits. The two most popular ones are that and the JBJ Picotope.
With either if you want to keep light hungry critters an upgrade is pretty much a required. Other then that, look into a small powerhead to get a little more circulation, it should be pretty easy to hide a small rio or minijet. They do require a lot more attention due to the small water volume, any parameters can shift very quickly to disaster levels.

It does have less flow and lighting, but it's made of glass so it won't scratch as easy and the actual light fixture is suppose to be more sturdy. Plus I thought it was prettier than the Deco...

Look into a DIY. I'm in the process of building a 2.5 gallon frag tank that I'm going to take to college with me. It going to house some of my frags from my tank at home. Plus it was kinda fun building the custome tank instead of buying one. Let me know if you have ne more questions.
