My LFS has a bunch of small mini maxi anemones for 12 bucks each, does anybody have luck with keeping them without them hurting your coral? some say they move all over the place killing anything that gets in their way, and others have said they stay put. they were a trade in that some lady brought in, she said she started with one and now theres a huge rock covered in them, I really dont want hundereds of thoes things in my tank so if anyone knows how fast they multiply that would also be helpful. Thanks

They can move about if not happy...IME they stay put fairly well for a nem...I also haven't experienced them reproducing on their own, but as a business I don't generally keep them more than a couple of months at a time.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I kept with sps never had an issue, mostly stayed put. For 12 bucks I would pick up several if your tank is not solely sps dominated.

thanks for the replies. I have quite a few sps right now but far from being sps dominant so i guess its worth a shot. they dont look to great right now since they are under one vho bulb but theyve been in there for a long time, I know they have a lot of potential and Ive always woundered how much they would color up under my lights. 12 bucks plus employee discount I guess I have nothing to lose

If they are really maxi mini's then they stay put and do not reproduce fast at all. I have no worries keeping them in an SPS tank, just feed them now and then, give them good light and moderate flow and they will stay put. If they are mini-mini's they reproduce like manjos LOL. The only really noticeable difference is the max size they grow to. Mini-mini's stay under 2 inches, maxies, up to 6, sometimes more.

Have one in my tank as well, getting huge however... I was told 6 inches max, he's about 9" diameter atm. Still hasn't moved since day 1 however.

I agree, 12 bucks is a steal. My gf has one and I beleive it stays put. I love them, there are so many different colors and they are easy to keep. I'm not sure about them reproducing on their own, but they are supposed to be easy to frag. I know theres several videos on youtube about how to do it.

thanks alot for all the replys everybody. Im pretty sure they are maxis just because they are sold in 2 sizes, small and large and the large ones are around 5 inches. i just see them everyday under really yellow lighting with no actinic suplementation and I just know that they are capable of producing amazing colors with the right lighting, so Im kinda doing it out of curiosity because they are pretty brown right now and I have always woundered what they really look like
