well ive been debating on whether or not to get a nova extreme pro 6x 54w light for my 55 gallon reef to replace my odyssea 4x 54w setup. today i got in a new ati blue plus bulb and a fiji purple bulb. the way the bulbs are clamped into the odyssea fixture is so bad i had to have someone help me get the bulbs out. then when trying to get them out some wiring came apart where the bulbs plug in. when i tried to fire the light up one of the new bubls is blinking on and off because of a loose connection. all of this is indicating to me that this is a CHEEEEEAP t5 light fixture and possibly an accident (short out) waiting to happen. im glad the light is plugged into gfi. im sure i will feel safe and confident with the american made nova extreme.

Good luck with the nova extreme. I took 2 of them back.....I had lots of trouble with them. bulbs, sockets, ballast. it may have just been an isolated incident. I am running an Ice cap now, and couldnt be happier.

American made my A$$, when you get it look at the Ballast thats in it, unless those Chinese scratchings on it are a new type of English that I have not heard about....

They are built just about the same as the light you have now, I have 3 odyssea T5 lights and one Current light and for the money I take the odyssea over the Current.

I think its all in the luck of the draw. Sometimes you get something cheap that just lasts forever and then you can spend good money on something and it crashes before you the cheapo. Good luck on this.
I run an Odyssea now going on a year and a half with no problems.

jeez. for the nearly 400.00 it cost you wouldnt think it would have problems. i have people tell me get it get it and others say its garbage. i dont no what to do but i dont feel 100% safe using the fixture i have now. odyssea is def cheap if wires fail just from changing bulbs.
