can anyone tell me how a clam moves. i have a few clams that came with a piece of LR that has polyps on the top. My best guess is that one of them decided to move. I now have one on a piece of LR adjacent to the polyp rock. Kind of tucked into a niche in the rock.

Have you aver seen them "sneeze?" It's like that; they blow water out of their siphon and jet- like a squid (only with a clam it kind of moves them along the sand, one squirt at a time).

They can move themselves if they don't like where they are at. They move by using their foot. If they are moving, it means they are not happy where they are at.

    Depends on the starfish.
What kind of clams? Just so you know, if the clams are that small you will need to be feeding them at least once daily. In general its not a good idea to get a clam under 3"

If you have a Tridacnid clam of any type and its 1/2 in in size the best thing would to just let it be where it wants . At this size they are iffy at best

Took a bit to locate this my wife posted it here a few yrs ago..It may be of some help ?

I have had this polyp colony since march and I noticed like 3-4 of these little guys under the colony. The weird thing about them is that the hinge faces out and they open where it looks like they are attached to the rock. kinda backwards? I will try and get a pic up later.
