OK.. well my heater messed up 2 days ago. and now one of my clown fish in my qt just died. im not sure what caused it... im afraid it was ammonia or something. i tested the water but it seemed fine. all read zero.

but he looked like it was ammonia poisoned which makes me doubt my test kit. i did a water change, yesterday just in case. (about 20%) but i guess it was too late...

now im worried about my other 2 fish who are in there. I was thinking to just switch them back to my DT tank were conditions are good. BUT the 6 weeks havent passed yet. im in week 4 and a half. ( had ich before so i was waiting for the 6 weeks to pass in case you dont know my whole case.) like i said before and i know this might not change things at all but i did washed everything on my DT tank and its now cycled again.

so what do i do? cant do any water-changes right now since i have no money to get the water or the salt to make it.
will it be better to just change the fish back to my DT??

6 weeks seems like a long time to keep them in the QT.
I heard 2 weeks was standard.

Are there any signs that the fish are not healthy? If you've had them in there for 4.5 weeks and they look good I'd put them in the DT.

He is leaving the DT fallow to kill ich he had. 6 weeks is the suggested time.

no no no.. by the 6 weeks i meant the DT being fishless not my QT. they ave been im my QT about 4.5 weeks. ( i heard its 3-4weeks) im running carbon to take copper away. but still, if ammonia levels are high im worried about my other fish

Well if their stressed in the QT and you put them back in the DT, there is a good chance they'll get the ich back. Its a tuff call, don't want them to die in the QT cause of water params, but its a risk putting them back in the DT in a stressed sate. Do you know anyone with a tank that can hold them for you??

I don't know if I am "getting" all of this. Did you put Copper in the display?

no... i actually dont know if my water params are bad.. since they read 0. but again. the clownfish that died, seemed like poissioned. he had a red mark on him. ( like internal bleeding) so thats why i guessed poisoning.

then i thought maybe the copper kit is wrong and i overdosed... i started to run carbon yesterday when i saw that clown acting a little weird. ( plus it was time to do that anyways)

BTW my other fish seem normal.. ( think my other clown might have had some type of infection or something?)

One of the nice things about a QT is that, due to the relatively low volume, it is easy to change the water. Do a massive water change. I'm talking about an almost 100% change, not a 20% one. This will get rid of all the copper, ammonia, and anything else harmful. And once that's done, test every day or two for ammonia and nitrites, and monitor the temperature carefully.

I would NOT add the fish back to the DT now, as they will almost certainly get sick again, this time with weakened immune systems.

BTW, you want your DT fallow for at least 8 weeks. 6 is not enough.
