Ok, so the other day I stopped by Petco (save the hate for someone else's thread) to pick up a few items for my other pets. It's a brand new Petco and a pretty small one but I swung by their fish section just to take a gander and low and behold, this guy was there. Now, I hadn't been looking to add a powder brown because there are other tangs I would have preferred but this guy was in a very small tank and was so skinny. I was watching him and he was trying to eat his own feces...yes that's gross but it was clear that he wanted to eat but wasn't getting the nutrition he needed. I asked the lady about him and she said he had been in the store for about a week or so. Anyway, I just couldn't leave him there. He was very skinny and a little discolored. With all this being said, I brought him home, aclimated and he was acting super strange. He would dart out from behind the rockwork, swim up the the power head and "surf" for a bit and go right back behind the rock. I was very concerned about him thinking he may have been sicker than I thought. Well, the next day, he was acting normal. Now, here's "Bruno". (I hate when my daughter names fish because that puts a little pressure on me to ensure they don't kill over)

So far, he won't mess with flake food, doesn't like marine cuisine and won't eat caulerpa straight from the sump. He really does like "crumpled up" red nori sheets though so I will keep him on that until I can convince him otherwise.

Congrats, he sure looks like he has colored up nicely in your tank. Bruno appears very healthy in the images.

You know, I have never really quarantined. If I did, I wouldn't qt a tang anyway. They stress too easily. I am of the belief that as long as water quality is good and the critters are getting a healthy diet, all will be well. The rabbit fish and my leopard wrasse both had ich when I added them, within a week it was gone.

    That's a nice looking PBT

A little off topic though, what do you feed your scribbled? Mine doesn't seem to like algae sheets at all I've tried both a regular suction cup clip and attaching it to a piece of rubble but he still doesn't seem interested. He basically goes around picking on the rocks most of the day but there isn't much there for him to eat. He will go after mysis but he loses interest in that really fast.

I don't mean to hijack your thread but your scribbled looks fat and healthy I wanted to ask, thanks

The pictures don't show it but he is pretty skinny. I just fed again, with some flake, and he is now going after it. He's also trying to "school" with my rabbitfish. Poor fella is confused

Great find man. Powder browns are my favorite tang. I can't get one until I have a bigger tank set up. See...I'm learning LOL!
