I currently am running a ViaAqua 20/20R Media Reactor with Bellaphos in it. What I was wondering was if I can run the Bellaphos and Carbon in the reactor at the same time?

If I could steps should I take in adding it in the Reactor? Mix with Bellaphos?

If not, why would it not work?

Thanks for your responses in advance.

only thing i can think of as to why you couldnt is because some gfo and carbon use different flow rates to fluidize them .... but im no expert on this.... also you would most likely be wasting gfo because the carbon gets spent faster then the gfo.... but again im no expert on this

It's not really a good plan. The phosphorus media will last a lot longer than the carbon. You would be in a situation of leaving carbon in longer than it will last or throwing away perfectly good bellaphos.

So then could I just purchase another dividing ring and set up a part of the reactor that is not filled with Bellaphos and depending on the turnover rate of the media, this would decide the placement of the media in the reactor?

Thanks for the idea. That would work great...now I just need to find the dime.
