Pygmy angels can be quite aggresive. They may work it out they may not. A purple tang is too big for that tank IMO.

    Yes you should be concerned.

The chasing is very stressful to the fish, even if no bodily injury occurs, the stress alone is enough to weaken the immune system allowing disease to set in, leading to secondary bacterial infections, quickly causing the demise of the fish.

I would turn off the lights of the tank, and re-arrange as much rock work as you can to establish new territories.

    Good luck.

bvb Please read the above post. Any aggresion in a fish tank and it usually means one or both fish will be stressed "fighting will take its toll".In a smaller tank this is magnified. No one is saying that you are going to keep fish all the time and everyone gets along but if you use your head and select the correct number and kinds of fish it can be eliminated. I have no aggresion in my 120.

yes i know the tank is too small, hes about 2 inches for 100 bucks, fat was perfict watched him eat, was eating in the bag on the way home, couldnt pass him up, im moving to a 125 long in about a month i figured since hes a baby hell be fine till then. its callmed down a little bit, its funny he hasnt stopped feeding every chance he finds even with the angle pushin him around. ive overgrown this 75 so i dont think either of them can come out so im just gonna over feed a little for a couple days then change some water and hope for the best.

idk whats going on but in the wild there are predators and prey, in order for a fish that is normally prey to not be unhappy in a aquarium is to have a predator period .....and if this has nothing to do with nothing well im sorry lmao

    No, no, no.

That is just silly. Yes a pecking order is the way of the wild, but within those confines a fish seen or sensed as less than adequate or weakened will quickly fall pray to even another passive fish, regardless of wild or in an aquarium. That is what nature does.

Chasing causes stress there by weakening the fish further and the cycle starts.

+10000 to that. Survival of the fittest? We've all heard that phrase before. If you been around more than a day youve read the threads about how passive fish X ate passive fish Y, or even more how a reefer woke up to an empty clam shell in a tank with nothing but passive fish. Truth in it all is fish/animals can sense weakness & that weakness can be exploited rather quickly. You can be the stronger or more agressive fish but all it takes a little bacteria, or an infection from getting nipped or stressed and suddenly you arent so awesome.
