I have had the same Clarki clownfish for 9 years. Needless to say she is huge! She has always been queen of the tank and thinks she runs the show.

Today I added a Naso Tang, Yellow Tang, and fox face to my 144 gallon. As usual she is chasing them into stress and I do not want them to die from nips and stress.

Is it at all possible to provide her a mate (another Clarki) this late in her life? Or any other ideas (other than netting her)on calming her down? Anemone?

    Thanks for the help!!!!

For the most part we all have MEAN clowns. Mine draws blood! There are a few things you could do.. QT her for a bit so the others get use to the tank. Mine has a mate and she is still mean. Anemone depends, again still mean if not even more aggressive. Has she ever hosted one?

Are the other fish smaller or bigger?

I do not have a QT tank. Never hosted an anemone because tank is full of sps and am afraid of the anemone stinging them. The fish are larger than her (I purposely ordered larger fish in hopes she would leave them alone).

Sadly the common solution is to quarantine her in a seperate tank while you re-aquascape then allow the new inhabitants acclimate for a week or two, then finally add her back in and hope she spends her energy adapting to her new surroundings.

Good Luck, sounds like your gonna need it! :joker:

You can try and put a picture of a clown behind the tank. It may occupy her. It didn't work for me though.

i guess i got lucky with my mean clown.:) i have a 2 yr. old maroon clown, no mate and he chases everybody in the tank before for he was one of the very first fish in the tank.
now he has mellowed down for i gave him a long tentacle anemone to host and pretty much stay on the anemone all the time and doesn't even chase any of the fish if they pass by.
tank is also sps dominant and no issue of stinging yet.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I just do not see that old of a Clarkii, changing it's ways unfortunately.

All the older clown fish that I have had that lost their mates never took to another fish, especially the Clarkii and Maroons.

    The can be ferocious.
