Probably not, that would just be too stressfull on your fish.

how would it be stressful at all? a 10 percent water change every other day would not do that. i would just do that until i get a skimmer then ill go to once a week

In a 5 gallon tank?! I'd just top up and do a WC every week. Doing a water change that often would be stressfull, different params, temp etc.
    Don't just put down people's advice. ;)

oh oh your taunting me haha, 10 percent would be half a gallon i didnt think that would be too much, how about 5 percent or a tiny amount such as that. just to get some freshwater in there. i already have more than enough flow. what would you suggest i do while i wait to get a filter, ill probably have to get a protein skimmer online if i can maybe bribe my parents but idk. or order it through one of the lfs's,

Go to your local hardware store and buy a 5 gallon bucket and lid. Go to LFS and buy airline tubing, toms aqualifter, and some reef salt. Put RO in bucket with a pinch of salt, maybe 1.015ish SG and have it top off. Shouldn't cost you more than 40$

Yes needs to be pure RO/DI, no salt mix added,

That is usually what I top off with but since he wanted SPS the trace elements in the reef salt would help keep calcium, etc up. Just a thought, might raise SG over time..
