k so its been about 2 weeks and it looks like the cycle will soon be coming to a close, i dont know if i will take back the yellow tail damsel because i know the tank is small for him, im thinking maybe a clown and a panda goby or a possum wrasse instead of a clown.

the tank has finished cycling, i need input on whether i should just take back the yellow tailed damsel or ditch him and go with a couple other fish. what do you guys think?

    1. That tank is too small for a damsel.
    2. Couple other fish?
Try maybe a clown goby or 2 panda gobies. If you have so little filtration and want SPS you don't want more fish than that.

i think it would be fine for a damsel, i was thinking a possum wrasse or a clown and a clown or panda goby, i was told this would be a good mix with a free swimming fish and a bottom dwelling one. i am going out tonight and i am going to get a small hang on back power filter, i cant do a sump theres just too large a change it will overflow and my stereo is mounted right under my desk.

You'd want a skimmer for that much fish in a 5 gallon. Possum Wrasses are pretty swimmy for even a 10 gallon. I know thats what it says on liveaquaria, and I'm going to be countered with "it says this here" but they are happier in longer tanks. Same for the damsel. If you want SPS, then that many fish is not the best idea.

well today i got a aqueon 500 pump for circulation and i think it may be a little much, within 10 minutes all my sand was piled on one side of the tank lol... i positioned it towards the surface and the right side of the tank so it gets spread out and no one spot gets the bulk of the flow. also got a cheap topfin filter that i was quite dissapointed with, as it didnt even have the syphon tube in the box so i gotta take it back.

How did the damsel get back in the tank?

Edit-or do you mean getting him back from the lfs?
