my dp is just cycling for 5 days if i do hyposalinity on it the live rock organisms are gonna die! the qt tank is just 5 gallons.. the fiji is really really aggresive, though it doesn't really attack the maroon, it tends to get most of the food~! and i thought i could cycle the tank with the damsel but somehow the tank is quite okay now. ammonia and nitrites are zero and nitrates is 20. i think it's because those live rocks that i got had plenty nitrifying bacteria on it. ( the lfs added some fishes to the live rock tank and fed it ) . so should i just add the damsel inside the 5 gallon tank?:-X

5 gallons is a wee bit smaller than I thought. In all honesty I figured you'd have a minimum of 10 gallons. If money really is an issue you can always get a rubbermaid container from walmart for about 5 or 6 bucks that'll hold 30 gallons or so. I've done that in the past when I needed more room but didn't want another glass aquarium laying around.

not really about the money, it's just i'm a student and the tanks are in my bed room so it's more about the space. ::) i've been spending quite alot on this new hobby though! test kits, refractometer. so should i go ahead and put the damsel with the clown. or should i observe the damsel for any possible ich??

    Cryptocaryon Irritans

Here is a good article I found on marine ich. What you may be interested in is the section on the life cycle of this little parasite and how it deviously reappears after you think its' gone.

BTW, I recently brought a new fish home from the LFS and unwittingly introduced this parasite to my tank. I used a product called "No-Ich" from fishvet. This product worked very well. It removed the spots from the fish without removing them from the tank and setting up a quarantine tank. No harm to corals or invertabrates.

    Good Luck,
    Rick

but like u said, spots dissapearing is just a part of the ich cycle. we have no idea if it'll strike again when the fishes are weak! :-/
