mantis molt

    my p ciliata mantis molted for the first time since i got him yesterday and i need advice about whether i should perform a water change as normal or should i leave everything undisterbed for a few days also should i try to take out the molt or will he eat it as my crayfish does thanks.

    Definitely leave it. He may or may not eat it but right after a molt is when they are weakest. You should not stress the tank with your hands, waterchanges, or anything.

    Wow what I bright mantis! :drool:

    As inwall said, leave everything alone for awhile. They are the most vulnerable and weak during and after a molt, so it's best to let them get up and going again before you do anything.

    Glad the molt went smoothly (or it did by the sounds of it) ;)

    wow i really like that color!! what do you have in the tank or around the tank that is that shade of yellow?

    They change color during molts, so since this is his first molt it had to be something in the wild.

    What stepho said. My Princess went from kinda red/pink bleah color, to firetruck holy crap hot rod rust colored red over the course of a few molts. Stepho's Mr. Fister went from redish colored to bright green if I recall correctly. (help me out stepho :))
