How can you tell if a mangrove has died? I have a few that are no longer green but am not sure if this means they are dead or not.

What colour are they now? Mangroves can be green to start but can turn red or black depending on the type. What kind of lighting and where are they sump on HOB fuge?

The one's in question and reddish/brownish in color. The roots used to be red but are mostly brown now and do not have any leaves growing or indication of any sprouting. I have them in my sump under a plant light bulb I picked up from home depot.

I've got about a dozen Red Mangroves. The dead ones without fail will start to show the tips drying out and turning brown. The ones that are still kicking will stay green throughout the pod until leaves grow from the top.

    Cheers.

You can also cut off a couple of inches of a root. Should see life.

The roots were all mushy and kinda just fell off when I pulled on them a little, Im guessing they are dead.
