A Mandarin will wipe out the pods in a small fuge section in a day or two so I think its a bad idea uless like FB said you are willing to buy pods every week or two.Training them to eat prepared foods is possible but doesn't always succeed and sometimes even when it does they can suddenly stop accepting them for unknown reasons.Without a decent sized system with a healthy pod population to sustain it the odds of success are slim IMO.

I don't understand the appeal of having a beautiful, demanding fish in the fuge where you'll rarely see him. I also disagree with keeping a fish in a minute swimming, perching area just because you find it appealling. Like someone else said, it's like putting the mandarin in a 5 gallon tank. And as someone else also said, it'll starve unless you constantly replenish the pods and it's false security if you're pretty sure you can get it eating frozen food.

There are plenty of fish that I have wanted for my tank but I was responsible enough to know that my system simply wasn't the right environment for it/them.

maybe put some plexi glass sides around nem to hopefully keep hitting edges of nem? Not a very good idea I know but I don't see the benefits to putting the mandrin in a fuge setting that is rarely seen so my best suggestion is get rid of nem or no mandrin

How about getting another clown, or pair of clowns, for the nem? My clown's chase away any fish that comes near their nem.

Before they started hosting it, I lost a green mandarin as well, and I suspect that it wandered into the nem.

With a manderin living in it,it is no longer a fuge,as in refuge in which pods can breed without being preyed on.As FB stated the pod population would diminish quickly.
