I want to make my HOB power filter into a fuge. What do I need?

What should I use for the sand? I will have argonite ion my tank. Can I use this in the fuge too or should Iuse something else? If so, what would you suggest?

I can adjust the flow of the intake to the filter(soon to be fuge) so I can make the water slower.

What else should I have aside from some chaeto? I don't really want a cuc in there.

I will use a clip on light from Lowe's. Will a 6500k spiral bulb work or should I use a bluer bulb? I will have reverse lighting cycle than my DT.

For the record, Seano Hermano and I both have the same idea for this DIY fuge, and will each be building one to try out.

In regards to the substrate, I have a bin of formerly live rock, and the bottom is covered with small pieces of that. I'm wondering if that would be acceptable to use.

Bed for me soon... more from me tomorrow.

I don't know.. I would try to stay away from LR in a fuge. LR collects detritus(the stiff we don't want) making it counter-productive, in this purpose.

This is a good idea. Someone on here had success with one a while back, I will try to find it.

Well the chaeto/pods(hiding in the chaeto) would eat the detritus. Rock just collects it.

I'm using a spiral (CF) 6500k flood bulb on my regular fuge. You don't want to go bluer, since you're going for growth, not color.
