    HI,
My Rio Pump went to Rio heaven in about 6 most on my Coral Life 220, so I was researching the web for awsome skimmer many clones of that Euro skimmer, so I thought maybe the Pump and bubble generator is the main reason a Euro is one of the best.
The most pump for the buck that was fairly good was that Octopus 3000, with bubble generator. I ordered one from Customaquatics, it came with the bubble genrator but no fitting for the discharge, I went to Lowes and tried to find a way to connect that bad boy, and made a discovery that those smart dudes at Octopus land made a very weird sized thread on the discharge to keep bad boys like me from using their pumps on other skimmer they have a very fine thread almost metric sized discharge. So i went back to customaquatics and ordered a double male fitting for the octi 3000.
More to follow on this project to Modify my coralife skimmer , awaiting my package.
My only other major problem is the pump they sent me has a little more output power than the original 500gal rio I had. I may need back it down a bit.
I will allow a longer connection on the pump to slow the flow a bit I believe the Octi3000 is rate 700max.
Wow that may hit the ceiling if Iam not careful..

    Finally using the new Pump

    HI,
I was so scared of the new pump being twice the output of the average coral life pump I tested it in a ice chest with freshwater.
It didn't do much there was hardly and bubbles and the water at the lowest setting didn't even reach the cup.
SO I dropped it in the sump,
at the lowest setting I had a 10 in column of bubbles that wouldn't quit for about 6 hours had to empty the cup twice in 24 hours it was green and smelly and very wet.
After the first 24 hours it seemed to settle down, I guess it had remove most of the excess stuff from the water that the little skimmer missed.
The water in the skimmer is white like milk with tiny little bubbles that are to small to see. The skimmer now pushes a 6 in level of foam up the too the cup. its amazing to watch how the pump bubble generator is what makes the skimmer average or super good.
If you look at those replacement pumps for the asm or some of the higher end skimmers I believe you can turn an average skimmer like a coral life into a high end skimmer buy upgrading the pump and the bubble generator.
SO my cheep old coral life now purrs like a more expensive skimmer.
Yes those high pump replacements cost around 60 bucks, but thats way less than a new skimmer that has the cup size of the coral life 220.

    very happy with this mod.
here's where I found the pump with the needle wheel and the bubble generator, I just attached the pump to the tueing on my coralife and ran the air hose to the exisiting air box on the coralife step back it will make some foam run it very low for about 24 hours .....
