low pH

    everything in my tank is good except i cant get this pH up. i was told baking soda helps but will raise ur KH super high and my KH is at 12 degrees. Any sugeestions :confused:

    Everything must not be good. What type of substrate? Salt? Lid? No lid? Filtration? You're going to have to give more info on your system/husbandry. pH can be affected by opening a window in the house8) That means there are a few different causes/resolutions.

    What is your pH?

    Baking soda isn't a solution to your problem but can help in certain situations.

    open up a window and open the tank up for the most access to air. see if you can get a fan blowing at it. Watch it over an hour and see what it does.

    are you using power heads if so I would point them towards the water surface

    30 gallon 30 lbs lr and 30 lbs ls power bio wheel two power heads and a lid 50/50 lighitng pH is reading 7.8

    remove the lid and your ph should go up in a few hours.

    they also sell ph buffer that wont really mess with your dkh. I think kent marine buffer?

    I've always use seachem buffers. It tries to maintain at at 8.3 usually.

    I use Sea-lab #14. It maintains PH at 8.1-8.3, I also am using Sea-Lab #28 as they work in tandem and, in spite of those who may knock these products, my Calcium stays at 460-500 ppm and like I said PH at 8.1-8.3. I believe the #14 can be used by itself though for PH balance.
